5 Indian cricketers who married Bollywood stars

Bollywood and cricket go hand in hand in India. And hence it comes as no surprise that a number of Indian cricketers have been romantically involved with Bollywood stars. Here is a list of 5 cricketers who married Bollywood celebrities.

1.    Mohammad Azharuddin and Sangeeta Bijlani

Mohammad Azharuddin, a former Indian captain, married Sangeeta Bijlani, a Bollywood actress, in 1996. In the 1990s, their relationship received a lot of media attention. Before marrying Sangeeta, he was married to Naureen, whom he divorced after 7 years of marriage. Sangeeta’s marriage with Azharuddin did not work out either, and the couple parted ways in 2010. During that time, media sources suggested that Azharuddin had an affair with badminton player Jwala Gutta, which caused his marriage with Sangeeta Bijlani to end in divorce. However, both the players refuted these accusations.

2.    KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty

On January 23, 2023, Indian cricketer KL Rahul married Bollywood star, Athiya Shetty. The two celebs have been dating for quite some time. Athiya even accompanied Rahul on his England visit, and she was observed cheering for Rahul’s team, the Lucknow Super Giants, at IPL 2022 stadia. KL Rahul and Athiya married in Khandala in a private ceremony and the couple shared photos from their wedding on Instagram.

Former Indian captain Virat Kohli has also married a Bollywood starlet. Kohli, the most-followed Asian on Instagram, married Anushka Sharma on December 11, 2017. Virat and Anushka, like KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty, chose to have a private wedding with just close friends and family members invited. Virat met Anushka while filming a shampoo advertisement. Soon after, the two began dating and married in Italy nearly five years later. The couple now has a daughter together named Vamika.

Yuvraj Singh is a member of India’s World Cup-winning squads of 2007 and 2011. The former Indian all-rounder is married to British-born Bollywood actress Hazel Keech. Hazel has appeared in films such as Bodyguard, Maximum, Dharam Sankat Mein, and Baankey Ki Crazy Baraat. On November 30, 2016, she married Yuvraj, and the pair has a son. Harbhajan Singh, the winner of the ICC World Cup 2011 and the ICC T20 World Cup 2007, married British Bollywood actress Geeta Basra in 2015.
