BCCI Made Official Call For the Position of Selection Committee Member of Men’s Team

Since February 2023, when Chetan Sharma, the previous Chairman of Selectors, resigned following a sting operation, the position of national selector has been open. On Thursday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) issued an official call for applications for the position of men’s All-India Senior Selection Committee member.

Chetan Sharma Resign After the Sting Operation

Since February 2023, when Chetan Sharma, the previous Chairman of Selectors, resigned following a sting operation, the selector’s position has been vacant. Shiv Sundar Das has since taken the helm of the committee. The committee also includes Shridharan Sharath, Salil Ankola, and Subroto Banerjee.

The following characteristics are required for application to the position, according to the BCCI:

  • Should have participated in at least one of the following: a) 7 Test Matches; b) 30 First Class Matches; c) 10 One Day International Matches and 20 First Class Matches.
  • Should have given up playing at least five years ago.
  • No one may serve on the Men’s Selection Committee if they have served on any Cricket Committee for a cumulative period of five years (as stipulated in the BCCI‘s Memorandum of Association and Rules and Regulations).
