After Australia crushed the Rohit Sharma-led team in the World Test Championship final, Rohit Sharma spoke out about India’s disappointing track record in ICC competitions.

Australia is a New World Test Champion

With a victory over Rohit Sharma and company in the championship match of the main event on Sunday, Pat Cummins‘ Australia won the ICC World Test Championship for the first time. At The Oval, Australia defeated Team India by a score of 209 runs thanks to centuries from Steve Smith and Travis Head. The merciless Australian team’s victory has extended Team India’s streak of ICC competitions without a trophy.

Ten Years Draught of ICC Trophy for India

India hasn’t claimed an ICC trophy in men’s cricket in ten years. Rohit and company were humiliated by England in the T20 World Cup semi-finals of last year, and they went on to lose the WTC final to Australia. New Zealand also outperformed India in the 2021 World Test Championship final at Southampton. Additionally, Team India suffered a devastating loss from the 2019 World Cup at the semi-final stage against England.

The Captain expressed his opinions over the Asian giants’ dismal performance in ICC competitions. “We’ll strive to play differently when the World Cup is played in October. In our efforts to provide freedom, we won’t place any emphasis on winning certain games. Looking at the innings, you can see that Gill and I put all of our effort into hitting, playing, and applying pressure to them when the game was in the second inning. We scored 60 runs in just 10 overs as a result. Simply said, we’d prefer to play differently. We wish to take a new approach. We have obviously participated in a lot of ICC tournaments without success.
