The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCIhead )’s selector, Chetan Sharma, has resigned from his position. The BCCI’s secretary, Jay Shah, received and accepted his resignation. Former professional cricketer Chetan Sharma was caught on camera making shocking claims about the selection process and specific players. Following a TV sting operation, India’s chairman of selectors Chetan Sharma resigns. The video caused a stir when it gained popularity on social media. Sharma “resigned voluntarily,” according to a senior cricket official, and his resignation was accepted.

Mr. Sharma was reappointed last month after serving in the position since December 2020. On Tuesday, Zee TV aired a video of him discussing issues pertaining to the men’s cricket squad. Along with disclosing specifics of private meetings between captain Rohit and head coach Rahul Dravid, Sharma said that he had differences with management over pacer Jasprit Bumrah’s return.

According to prior media reports, Sharma’s employment became untenable despite the likelihood of an opportunity to defend himself because of his sarcastic remarks regarding Virat Kohli as well as other prominent Indian cricketers. He said in the video that Sourav Ganguly, the previous BCCI president, and Virat Kohli, the former captain of the Indian team, had “ego battles.”

He asserted that Mr. Kohli had made a false assertion that the governing body had not informed him of his removal as ODI captain. Additionally, he claimed that some athletes play even though they are not match-fit and use injections to hasten their recovery from injuries.

After the video was released, Mr. Sharma has not offered any public commentary.

Chetan Sharma gained notoriety during his playing days as a result of his last-ball six against Pakistan’s Javed Miandad in the Austral-Asia Cup final in Sharjah in 1986. His greatest moment, though, was when he became the first bowler to notch a hat-trick in a world cup in 1987.
