International Cricket Council (ICC) is yet to announce the schedule for the 2023 ODI World Cup in India. ICC usually announces the schedule for its events at least a year before it happens but this time we are only 4 months away and there is still no news regarding the schedule announcement. Don’t worry, because the word is that ICC will announce the schedule for the much-awaited ICC WC 2023 during the WTC Final between India and Australia. Jay Shah, Secretary of BCCI and ACC President, made this announcement during the eve of the IPL 2023 Finals and he confirmed that the cities to host the 2023 WC have been locked in and they will announce the complete schedule during the WTC Final.

According to the rumors BCCI has already shortlisted their venues for the 2023 World Cup, which will be announced during the WTC Final. BCCI has chosen a total of 12 venues for the grand event, and Pakistan will most probably play its matches in Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, and Pakistan Vs India will be played in Ahmedabad. These are the cities that will most likely host the 2023 ODI World Cup:

According to the rumors, the finalists of the last World Cup, England, and New Zealand will play the first match of the 2023 ICC WC on 5th October at Narendra Modi Stadium. India vs Pakistan will be played in Chennai on 15th October. Ahmedabad is also most likely to host the final on 19th Novemeber.

ICC Chairman, Greg Barclay, and ICC Chief Executive, Geoff Allardice recently visited Pakistan where they met PCB Chairman, Najam Sethi and discussed all the issues regarding Pakistan’s participation in the 2023 World Cup. According to the reports, PCB Chairman has given the green light for World Cup participation in India as he was assured the participation of India in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy which is set to be hosted by Pakistan.

2023 World Cup Qualifiers

The 2023 ICC World Cup qualifiers are scheduled to take place from 18th June to 9th July. 10 teams will compete for a spot in the ICC WC in India. The teams will be dived into two groups of 5 teams each. These teams will be divided into two groups, each consisting of 5 teams. The top three teams from each group will progress to the Super Six stage, where the six teams will compete for a spot in the Finals. The two teams that reach the final match will secure qualification for the World Cup. West Indies and Sri Lanka are also the part of World Cup Qualifiers.
