Sarfaraz Khan and his Abu live their dream

On November 5, 2009, Sarfaraz Khan was first mentioned. Following the initial quotation marks are the first words: “My father.”

Sarfaraz was 12 years old at the time, and he was already on his way to becoming a famous name and face, just like many other young power runners from Mumbai. He had just beaten the record for the highest score in the Harris Shield, a famous inter-school event where Sachin Tendulkar and Vinod Kambli got their start.

“My father,” Sarfaraz shared, “was telling me I should try and better Tendulkar’s score.”

A lot of people see this twelve-year-old boy as a future Indian player.

Sarfaraz’s Test Debut

On Thursday, February 15, 2024, 14 years, 3 months, and 10 days after that 439 in the Harris Shield, the future came true.

It took Sarfaraz a long time and many turns to get here, but Naushad Khan, who is his father, abbu, and teacher, has been with him the whole time.

Naushad was there on Thursday as well, and Sarfaraz first went to see him when he got his Test cap, from none other than Anil Kumble. Sarfaraz’s story is very similar to that of his grandfather, so it made sense that Naushad would be the main focus of the BCCI movie of Sarfaraz’s cap presentation and that he would be a guest on TV commentary.

Sarfaraz’s Test Debut

Patience Rewarded

On both occasions, he talked about how long he and Sarfaraz had to wait for this moment. It isn’t often that a batter averaging 70 has to play 45 first-class games before getting his first India call-up, but nothing in Sarfaraz’s career has ever been straightforward. Naushad spoke about the frustrations of this wait, but he also spoke of finding a new perspective, a new way to view that wait now that it was over.

“Raat ko waqt do guzarne ke liye, sooraj apne hi samay pe niklega”

“Give the pass of the night its time. The sun will come up at its own time.”

Patience Rewarded

When Sarfaraz got to the middle of the Niranjan Shah Stadium, he had to wait a little longer. Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja had been batting together for the fourth wicket and had put together 204 runs in almost 55 overs.

Sarfaraz said at the end of the day’s play, “I was sitting padded up for almost four hours.” “I was thinking I’ve had to be so patient through my life, let me show a little more patience now.”

Many people use their lotteries to improve money
for beneficial initiatives that improve education, public infrastructure and social services.

Once you play the lottery, you’re helping to fund these programs while you finance your own dreams of earning it big.
