Ind vs SL: Who will score most runs in the first ODI

Sri Lanka would taken on India in the first ODI at Guwahati on 10th January, 2023. Lankan side has improved white-ball side and has players of great caliber in their ranks. On the other hand, India is all set to begin its World Cup preps, with main players returning to the side after being rested, so it would be interesting to see which batter will score most runs in today’s match. Here are our Top 3 picks.
Virat Kohli
Kohli had a disastrous 2022 with the bat, he averaged just over 27, in what turned out to be his worst annual average since his debut. But the star performer would be eager to start the new year with a bang, and who knows it might just be the series where vintage Kohli returns to form. He currently has 44 ODI centuries, and if he could return to form, the modern-day great could end up the year with the record of scoring most ODI centuries. Moreover, the former Indian skipper has a healthy average of over 60 against the opposition Sri Lanka and hence looks like that Kohli could be the highest scorer today.
Pathum Nissanka
Nissanka is a tailor made ODI opener, and although he failed to make an impact in the T20I series, he would be itching to get some runs for his team. Nissanka was the most successful Sri Lankan batsman in 2022 with an average of just below 50, he made four half centuries along with a ton last year. Hence, he would like to carry that form to the next year.
Sheryas Iyer
Sheryas Iyer was the leading run scorer in ODI’s last year, as he ended 2022 on a high with 724 runs. Moreover, he has an average of over 50 against Sri Lanka and would be itching to get some runs as he wants to secure his World Cup berth. He could cause serious troubles for Sri Lanka, if get going.
