India vs Sri Lanka Series Preview: Three records that can be broken

After winning an exciting T20I series by 2-1, hosts India are set to take on Sri Lanka in 50 overs series. With experience players such as Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Mohammad Shami back into the side, India looks on track to try out different combinations for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023. The forthcoming series also presents an opportunity to both teams to smash some records, here are three records which might be made during the course of the series.
Rohit Sharma’s 30 centuries
Indian skipper’s current century tally stands at 29, and he also has 46 half-centuries to his name, he could become the fourth batsman in the history of the game to score 30 centuries in 50 over format. Though Sharma has been struggling of late, but he is expected to make a comeback on the home soil.
Shami to become India’s 10th highest wicket taker
Shami recently became the fastest Indian bowler to take 150 wickets. He currently is ranked at thirteenth number on the list of Indian bowlers with most wickets. He just needs six more wickets to enter the Top 10 list.
Kohli to become the 5th highest run getter in ODI’s
Kohli is currently the sixth highest run getter in ODI’s behind Sri Lanka’s former captain Mahela Jayawardene. Kohli needs 180 runs to become the fifth highest run getter in the one-days. Though it is a difficult task but given an average of 60 against Sri Lanka, Kohli might end up taking Mahela’s spot on the list of highest run getters in ODI’s.
