Ajinkya Rahane has featured in every season of IPL from its inaugural year 2008 and before this year he had a decent performance with two IPL centuries and 28 half centuries. His notable year were 2015 and 2016 where he scored 540 runs and 480 runs with 4 and 6 half centuries respectively with an average of 49.09 and 43.63 respectively. Rahane became the part of CSK franchise but his place in playing 11 was still on doubt . CSK played its first match in the inaugural game of IPL 2023 against the defending champion Gujrat Titans and Rahane could not grab his place in the playing 11. Fortune turned around for Ajinkya Rahane over the night as he was included in squad against Mumbai Indians in Wankade. That was a master stroke by MSD as Rahane played Cricket in this very ground all his life as he is the local boy over there. Rahane came to the crease after Devon Convey gone on duck in the 4th ball of first over of CSK innings. CSK had to chase the target of 158 in 20 0vers. Rahane played a brilliant innings of 61 of 27 deliveries with a strike rate of 225+ .In that comeback innings Rahane smashed 7 fours and 3 sixes. He got out by Piyush Chawla but till that CSK was already in the favorite to win. CSK score was 82 for 2 in 8 overs when Rahane departed. CSK won by 7 wickets with 11 balls left. There was no turning back after that innings for Rahane. He scored 31 of 19 balls with SR of 163+ against RR, 37 of 20 balls against RCB, 9 of 10 balls against SRH and 71 of 29 against KKR so far. He have scored 209 runs and fixed himself in 3rd highest run getter for CSK till now in this season even after missing two games.
