Ireland is set to tour Bangladesh to play 3 ODIs, 3 T20Is, and a one-off Test match in March-April 2023. It’s going to be a very busy season for Bangladesh, as they will be hosting both England and Ireland.

Ireland last played a Test match in July 2019 against England. They had the game in hand, but a collapse in the final innings resulted in them being bowled out for 38 and losing by 143 runs.

The Irish team has been part of three test matches as of now against Pakistan, Afghanistan, and England.

Their inaugural Test was against Pakistan in 2018. Again, they were close to a victory but lost by five wickets in the end. Afterward, they couldn’t cross the finish line in their second Test match against Afghanistan. The red-ball game against England was their third.

Undoubtedly, Ireland will be eyeing their first Test match win against Bangladesh, and on Asian soil.

The Chief Executive of Cricket Ireland, Mr. Warren Deutrom, said:

“We are delighted to confirm Ireland Men’s seven-match, multi-format tour of Bangladesh and thank the BCB for their cooperation and support in agreeing on this month-long tour.”

On the other hand, the CEO of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, Mr. Nizam Uddin Chowdhury, stated:

“Ireland’s visit to Bangladesh is another exciting event in our home season after the series against India and England. The BCB and Cricket Ireland have a cordial and strong relationship, and the two boards have worked very closely to arrange this bilateral tour despite the challenges of a busy international calendar. This is also a statement of the BCB’s commitment to the ICC Future Tours Programme.”
