Khawaja starts yet another year with a ton at SCG

Usman Khawaja who was the only batter amongst Australia’s Top 5 who had not yet scored a century this summer, has set the record straight with an unbeaten 195 against South Africa in first innings of third test match. The Australian opener has begun 2023, just like the previous year, i.e. a century at SCG. Khawaja loves Sydney Cricket Ground as he has an average of 130.83 at the venue.

Khawaja had a great 2022, where he piled up 1080 runs, at an average of 67.50, however he struggled to gain form this summer, as he failed to capitalize on a couple of starts. But, 2023 witnessed the return of 2022 Usman Khawaja, as he brought up his career best innings, he is currently batting on 195, and the third day being washed out by rain, chances are that Pat Cummins might declare the innings. But, in either case he has successfully rescued his team with the help of Steve Smith who made his 30th test hundred.
