First innings KKR vs RCB
Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and opted to bowl first. The decision seemed right, as RCB were 26 for two in less than four overs. However, the inroads made by David Willey were soon forgotten by KKR batters as they steadily kept the scoreboard ticking. Gurbaz made a well-deserved fifty before holing out to Karn Sharma. Rinku Singh and Shardul Thakur continued the proceedings for KKR. Thakur seemed to be a man on a mission, as he spared no bowler and kept finding gaps. He ended up with a 29 ball 68 that included 9 boundaries and 3 gigantic sixes. Kolkata Knight Riders finished up with 204 in their quota of twenty overs. It was a great turn around as they completed their 100 runs in 13th over.
IPL 2023 Match 8 Highlights KKR vs RCB
In reply, RCB openers started off pretty nicely, both Faf and Kohli were playing shots freely, and looked like they would repeat the heroics of previous game. However, KKR spinners had other plans, Both openers were back in the dug out in the space of three balls, and RCB could never recover, they kept losing wickets. Complete team was bowled out for 123 runs in 17.4 overs. Varun Chakaravarthy was pick of the bowlers as he dismissed 4 RCB batters.
RCB has to do a lot of thinking and their think tank must re-evaluate their game plan, as now it has become a habit of theirs. One day they play brilliantly and the next match they are all over the place. Players like Maxwell need to step up and take responsibility, moreover local players should also be given confidence. On the other hand KKR has a lot to cheer, but they must not get complacent. Their spinners are doing a great job. Their local players have won them the match, and especially the late outburst of Thakur is a great booster for the team, as it would take some pressure off of Russell.
Will 2023 be a good season for RCB or they will repeat the same old script. Let us know in comments.
