Justin Langer, a former Australia coach, lauded Indian cricketer Virat Kohli for his aggressive playing style and voiced his opinion that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had unfairly handled Kohli by denying him the opportunity to continue serving as the format’s captain.
Langer Praised Kohli’s Dedication
Langer praised Kohli’s dedication to the game. Langer is presently a member of the commentary team for the World Test Championship (WTC) 2021-23 Final between India and Australia. He did, however, criticise the BCCI’s choice to relieve Kohli of the ODI captaincy.
Langer Slammed BCCI for the Unfair Decision
Langer praised Kohli’s assertiveness and chastised the BCCI for the way they handled him. Langer was adamant that he didn’t want to hear any other viewpoints on the subject and that, out of respect, Kohli should have been permitted to continue leading the ODI team. Furthermore, Langer only had good things to say about Kohli. He lauded him for his aggressive playing style, love of the game, and hitting prowess. Langer continued by praising Kohli as a superb captain, making it clear how highly he was held in esteem.
When Rohit Sharma was named the new captain in December 2021, Kohli’s ODI captaincy was abruptly terminated. With 65 victories in 95 games as captain in the 50-over format, Kohli achieved a remarkable win rate of 70.43.
