Krunal Pandya

Krunal Pandya, an Indian cricketer who has represented his country on the international stage, was born on 24 March 1991. He presently plays for Baroda in domestic cricket and for the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL. Krunal is an all-rounder who bowls slow left-arm orthodox and bats left-handed. In November 2018, he made his debut for the Indian cricket team abroad. In 2021, he recorded the quickest cricketer half-century in an ODI.

Domestic career

On October 6, 2016, Pandya made his first-class debut while playing for Baroda in the 2016–17 Ranji Trophy competition. He quickly rose to the positions of top run scorer and top wicket taker for Baroda in the 2016–17 Vijay Hazare Trophy. He amassed 366 runs in 8 games for an average of 45.75 and an 81.33 strike rate. This had a high score of 78 and three half centuries. Left arm bowler had an economy rate of 4.82, an average of 25.09, and a strike rate of 31.10 while bowling, taking 11 wickets in 8 games. Throughout the eight games, his bowling average of 4/20 was the best. Krunal participated in India A’s tri-series win over South Africa A and Afghanistan A in 2017.With 366 runs in eight games, he was the top run scorer for Baroda in the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy. Krunal was included in India A’s roster for the 2018–19 Deodhar Trophy in October 2018. Pandya has been selected to lead Baroda in the 2019–2020 Vijay Hazare Trophy. Pandya was chosen to participate in the 2022 Royal London One-Day Cup for the Warwickshire County Cricket Club.

IPL Career and Statistics

Pandya was bought by Mumbai Indians for 2 crore at the 2016 IPL auction. In April 2016, he played his first IPL match at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium against the Gujarat Lions. He was selected for the Cricinfo and Cricbuzz IPL XI based on his performances during the 2016 IPL season. In 2016, he played against the Delhi Daredevils at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam and scored 86 runs off of 37 balls while also dismissing Quinton De Kock and Zaheer Khan. He was named Player of the Match for the match. Throughout the competition, he kept turning in reliable performances with the bat and the ball. He was named Player of the Match for his 47 in the championship win over Rising Pune Supergiant. He was selected for the Cricinfo and Cricbuzz IPL XI based on his performances during the 2017 IPL season.[11]

In the 2022 IPL Auction, Pandya’s was bought by the Lucknow Super Giants for ₹8.25 crores.
Pandya’s excessively combative reactions on the pitch dominated IPL 2021. He frequently displayed anger towards the fielders when there was no way the ball could be stopped. While some criticized Krunal for his actions, only few have made him into a target of memes. After being caught hurling a moisturizer bottle in the direction of Anukul Roy during a match against the Rajasthan Royals, Pandya attracted notice for his questionable behaviour once more later in the tournament.

Pandya’s was purchased by the Lucknow Super Giants for 8.25 crores during the 2022 IPL Auction.

International Career and Statistics

Pandya was included in the Twenty20 International (T20I) teams for India’s trips against the West Indies and Australia in October 2018.[16] On November 4, 2018, he played in his first T20I for India against the West Indies, taking one wicket while scoring an unbeaten 21 runs off just nine balls. He was chosen to participate in all three of India’s Twenty20 International games against Australia. He gave up 55 runs in the first game’s four overs, but he took 1/26 in the second T20I and finished with a bowling efficiency of 4/36 in the third game, earning him Player of the Match honours. Krunal was included in India’s One Day International (ODI) team for their series against England in March 2021. On March 23, 2021, against England, he made his ODI debut for India, scoring 58 unbeaten. His ODI debut fifty, which he reached in just 26 balls, was the fastest ever.
