Shaheen of Lahore Qalandars set to take on Babar of Zalmi

Lahore Qalandars coach and former Pakistani cricketer, Aaqib Javed has stated that matches between PSL (Pakistani Super League) teams of Lahore and Karachi always have packed stadiums. He even went as far as to say the amount of people showing up is the same as during Pakistan-India cricket matches. This could be very much true since both cities have great support for their teams.
Before PSL 8, Babar Azam, has been traded by Karachi to Peshawar Zalmi. This has recently been talked about a lot in the cricket community. Babar was traded in exchange for Haider Ali and Shoaib Malik.
With Shaheen Afridi now as the captain of Lahore Qalanders team. The hype regarding the clash of these two teams has significantly increased.
Lahore Qalandars vs Peshawar Zalmi – The rivarly
Shaheen Afridi has a remarkable history in his cricket career in Pakistan, as well as his international career. He became the youngest bowler to take a five-wicket haul in a World Cup, this was in a 2019 match against Bangladesh. Shaheen was also named the rising star of the Pakistan cricket squad by the International Cricket Council. He also won the ICC Men’s cricketer of the Year trophy in 2021.
Babar Azam is although still relevantly young, but has earned a spot amongst Pakistan greats. He is even loved by the Indians, as well as respected by Virat Kohli himself. His feats are also very impressive just like Shaheen. He’s been named the ICC Cricketer of the Year which is the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy, this year (in 2022).
The massive hype behind the two teams now is because both of these legendary captains played alongside each other in the T20 World Cup. Both of these players have impressive stats. It’s safe to say that when or if these two teams clash in the upcoming league, we will be getting massive amounts of hype build-up, as well as excitement alongside quality action. It would be interesting to see how Babar tackles Shaheen’s first over. As he has developed a knack of picking up wickets early in the spell.
