Match Preview: Pak vs NZ

The three match one-day series between New Zealand and Pakistan begins from 9th January in Karachi, both teams would like to start the 50-over calendar year with a win. Pakistan would be itching for a win as they were unable to taste victory in last five tests at home soil. The series also presents an opportunity to both teams to try out new combinations as part of their upcoming World Cup preps.
Pakistan team might feel a bit rusty as their last series was in August 2022 against Netherlands. However, they have been consistently performing in the ODI’s and have won eight out of their nine outings. New Zealand on the contrary would be eager to get some match practice before they head out to India.

Players to watch Out for
Haris Sohail was a last minute inclusion alongside Fakhar Zaman, the middle order batsman was last seen in Pakistan colors in 2020. His inclusion strengthens the unpredictable and fragile middle order, moreover the left-hander has a proven record at the international circuit and his performance could earn him a spot for the upcoming World Cup in India.
Henry Shipley, is the bowler who could become a household name in New Zealand if he keeps going. The two feet tall bowler, has been performing consistently in the domestic circuit and has the ability to bowl with both new and old ball. It would be interesting how much bounce he generates on the flat pitches of Karachi, however with the aid of the sea breeze he might get some swing.
