Mayank Agarwal

Mayank Agarwal, a right-handed top-order hitter for India in international cricket, was born on February 16, 1991. In domestic cricket, he represents the Karnataka cricket team. On December 26, 2018, against Australia at the MCG, he made his debut for the Indian cricket team in an international match. He was purchased by Sunrisers Hyderabad at the 2023 Indian Premier League auction for Rs 8.5 Crore.

Domestic Career

Mayank earned his first triple century in first-class cricket in November 2017 when batting for Karnataka against Maharashtra in the 2017–18 Ranji Trophy, making 304 not out. In India’s first-class cricket, it was the 50th triple century to be recorded. He amassed 1,000 runs in first-class cricket during the same month. He finished the 2017–18 Ranji Trophy with 1,160 runs, which became him the tournament’s top run-scorer.

With 251 runs in seven games, he was the top run scorer for Karnataka in the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy. Mayank was included in India B’s roster for the 2018–19 Deodhar Trophy in October 2018. He was listed as one of the eight players to watch heading into the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy the following month. Agarwal was included on India C’s roster for the 2019–20 Deodhar Trophy in October 2019.

IPL Career and Statistics

He was purchased by the Kings XI Punjab in the 2018 IPL auction in January. Mayank made his first century in the Indian Premier League on September 27, 2020, for Kings XI Punjab against Rajasthan Royals at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. In the game, he scored 106 runs off 50 balls, but his team lost. In IPL 2020, he scored 424 runs overall for Kings XI Punjab in 11 games, averaging 38.54 runs per game. On May 2, 2021, Agarwal led the Punjab Kings against the Delhi Capitals as the team’s 13th captain in place of regular captain KL Rahul, who was out due to appendicitis surgery. He became the third batter in the IPL to score a 99*, and despite the fact that his team lost, he was named Man of the Match for his performance. On 28 February 2022, He was appointed as a captain of Punjab Kings and became 12th full time captain of the franchise. International Career and Statistics

On December 26, 2018, he played in his first Test match against Australia, opening the scoring with 76 runs at Melbourne Cricket Ground. The previous record for an Indian cricketer making their Test debut in Australia was 51 runs, established by Dattu Phadkar at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) in 1947. This total broke that mark. He participated in the fourth test as well, scoring 195 runs for the series.

On February 5, 2020, he played in his first ODI for India against New Zealand. Mayank was chosen for the T20I, ODI, and Test squads for the Australian tour in October 2020. He reached 1,000 runs in Test matches on December 19, 2020, during the first Test against Australia, making him the third-fastest Indian batsman to do so.
