Most wickets by a bowler in international cricket

The Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan holds the record for the most wickets taken by a bowler in international cricket. He took 800 wickets in his career, which spanned from 1992 to 2010.

In tests, he took 534 wickets from 133 matches at an average of 22.72. He also took 67 five-wicket hauls and 9 ten-wicket hauls.

In One Day, Internationals (ODIs), he took an additional 266 wickets from 350 matches at an average of 23.08. He also took 13 five-wicket hauls in this format.

Muralitharan was known for his unique bowling action and his ability to spin the ball both ways. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest bowlers of all time.
