New Zealand performed brilliantly in their 1st T20 match against India to start the series with a victory at the JSCA Stadium in Ranchi. Crucial batting innings by Daryl Mitchell and Devon Conway powered New Zealand to 176/6 in the first T20I. Mitchell smashed an unbeaten 59 runs on just 30 balls, while Conway scored 52 runs on 35 balls.
While chasing the target, Ishan Kishan, Shubman Gill and Rahul Tripathi from the Indian side were dismissed cheaply. Washington Sundar played a brilliant inning by scoring 50 runs for 28 balls, but all was in vain as India lost by 21 runs against New Zealand in the first T20I encounter in Ranchi. Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya continued the innings and saved India from early dismissal, but couldn’t help to gain the target.
Kiwis bowlers bowled superbly today as Michael Bracewell, Lockie Ferguson and Mitchell Santner took two wickets each to stand the New Zealand team in a commanding position against Indian batters. Daryl Mitchell was nominated as The Man of the Match for his brilliant unbeaten 59 runs on 30 balls.
