Pakistan Cricket Schedule for 2023: All the Home and Away Tours

PCT celebrating a wicket in WT20 2022 - Pakistan Cricket Schedule for 2023

This article will feature the complete Pakistan cricket schedule for 2023. They have two home tours and will fly abroad three times for multiple series.

Pakistan’s 2022 home campaign wasn’t very successful. They drew with New Zealand but lost the Test series against Australia and England. Furthermore, they were defeated by Australia in the one-off T20I in April.

Pakistan’s first assignment of 2023 didn’t go according to plans as well. They suffered a 2-1 ODI series loss against the Blackcaps. However, now they will look to change fortunes after a much-needed break to work things out.

Pakistan Cricket Schedule for 2023

The followings are the tours and tournaments PCT will be participating in, according to the Pakistan cricket schedule for 2023.

New Zealand Tour of Pakistan

  • December 2022 – January 2023
  • 2 Tests and 3 ODIs

This series has already concluded. There was a stalemate in the Test series as both teams gave it their all. Contrarily, the ODI series was won 2-1 by New Zealand giving them their first series trophy in Pakistan since 1969.

New Zealand Tour of Pakistan

  • April – May 2023
  • 5 ODIs and 5 T20Is

The Kiwis will tour Pakistan once again after a gap of three months. This will be a considerably long series with 10 games to be played across two formats. Pakistan will be definitely hoping to get their revenge for the 2-1 series loss against the same opposition earlier.

Pakistan Tour of Sri Lanka

  • July 2023
  • 2 Tests

The first away tour will begin in July for the Green Shirts. Pakistan toured Sri Lanka in 2022 as well for a two-match Test series which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Pakistan Tour of Afghanistan

  • August 2023
  • 3 ODIs

It is always a nail-biter when these two teams play. Whether it be Imad Wasim winning the World Cup game in the last over, or Naseem Shah hitting two sixes in two balls in the Asia Cup – Pakistan vs Afghanistan never fails to be a cliffhanger.

It will be interesting to see how both teams go up against each other in the upcoming series. It will also be Pakistan’s first tour of Afghanistan.

Asia Cup in Pakistan (ODIs)

  • September 2023

There’s still some dispute over the hosting of the Asia Cup. India is not looking forward to touring Pakistan, whereas the host nation wants all the matches to be held in their country.

It’s hard to tell how things will proceed and whether we’ll see some matches on neutral venues or not.

ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India

  • October – November 2023

This will be the 13th edition of the 50-over World Cup. Pakistan became the World Champions for the first time in 1992. Surely they’ll be looking to repeat the feat this year.

Pakistan Tour of Australia

  • December 2023 – January 2024
  • 3 Tests

Pakistan will end their year with a tour of Australia. Pakistan lost their last Test series against the Baggy Greens (1-0) at home. Besides, they have won just four Test matches in Australia out of the 37 played and are yet to win a Test series there. However, an opportunity will arise again later this year to improve their record.

Only time will tell how this young Pakistani team performs on their upcoming tours. They will certainly want to win as many games as they can before the World Cup starts, as positive past performances boost your morale and give you confidence ahead of any major tournament.
