PBKS vs RR: Highlights and Post Match Analysis

The eighth match of Indian Premiere League was played between Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings. It was a typical IPL high scoring nail bitter as both teams fought till the end and Punjab Kings won by five runs. Here is the post-match analysis and highlights of PBKS vs RR.
First innings PBKS vs RR
PBKS had a great start, thanks to their openers who looked in sublime form. Pitch was also batting friendly and hence the opening duo made the most of it. At the end of power play PBKS were 63 without any loss. At this moment 200 looked on the cards. Skipper Dhawan took only 36 deliveries for his half century. He finished with an unbeaten 86 off 56 balls. Holder was the pick of bowlers as he conceded only 16 runs in his last two.
Second Innings
In reply RR came with a surprise, they sent Ashwin to open the innings. However, the gamble did not paid off as the veteran spinner could not even open his account. Captain Sanju Samson played a good aggressive knock of 42 runs but could not carry on. Later in the innings Hetmyer and Dhruv Jruel went berserk and at one point of time almost took the game away, sadly it was too little too late and Royals end up five runs short of the target.

Takeaways
For PBKS the good news is that both their openers are in great form. The opening partnership of 90 laid the foundation for a huge total, and later order batters capitalized on it. However, their front line opening bowlers Sam Curran and Arshdeep Singh went for plenty and both gave away 91 runs in eight overs, which given the dynamics of the game was huge. Hence, if PBKS intends to do better in the next game, both these players need to up the ante. RR on the contrary need to rethink their game plan as both bowling and batting department failed miserably, moreover they could not create enough chances in the field also.
