India was defeated by Australia on June 11 in the WTC Cup by an enormous 209 runs. The early dismissal of Virat Kohli disappointed the crowd. Anushka Sharma, a Bollywood actor, and his wife were both in the stadium. She was seen on tape moments after Kohli was fired, her expressions expressing shock. Netizens quickly started criticising her, labelling her as “bad luck” for the Indian Cricket Team. Many, however, defended her, claiming that it was not her fault. After each loss for the Indian Cricket Team or whenever Virat Kohli underperformed in 2016, Sharma would receive abuse and taunts from Indian cricket supporters. In order to defend her, Kohli resorted to Instagram to denounce these “haters” and inform them that she had only ever contributed “positivity” to his life.
