RCB vs LSG: He Did Some Timed Sprint And Mobility Exercises

Meanwhile, ESPN Cricinfo reported that Rahul took part in training before the match, but could not keep wickets. He did some timed sprint and mobility exercises and also batted. He practiced the sweep shot, but there was some problem in his left hamstring. He batted for 15 minutes, facing net bowlers and throwdown specialists before finishing his training with some more mobility exercises.

On Rahul’s participation, Puran said, “We will see how he performs in training.” Pooran also highlighted Rahul’s absence from the field. “It is always difficult when you have to change the combination,” he said. However, our senior players came together and helped me in taking decisions. Sometimes when your captain is not available, all the senior players stand together and try and compensate for his absence.”

Despite media reports claiming that he was advised not to wear gloves in the early part of the tournament, Rahul played his first match of the season as a wicketkeeper-batsman. However, Rahul did not give up the opening spot and came to open in both matches and he scored 58 runs in 44 balls against Rajasthan Royals and 15 runs in nine balls against Punjab Kings.
