RCB vs MI: Match Summary
RCB has just kick-started their 2023 campaign with a bang. They crushed Mumbai Indians by eight wickets comprehensively in their first outing. RCB opted to bowl first in the Chinaswamy stadium and the bowlers took early wickets. At one point MI were 48/4 in nine overs, it seemed like a one-sided game at that time. However, Tilak Varma of MI had other plans. He took his team to a respectable total of 171.
In reply, RCB openers captain Faf with ex-captain Virat Kohli made sure to unsettle Mumbai Indians bowlers from the word go. It was a great display of stroke play all around the park. However, Mumbai Indians avoided an embarrassing 10 wickets defeat as Faf fell earlier and Dinesh Karthik soon followed. But, by then the RCB veteran Kohli has steered his team to a comfortable eight wicket win in 16.3 overs.
IPL 2023 Match 5 Highlights MI vs RCB
King Kohli is back in form
Virat Kohli has just plunged out of the longest slump of his career. He has started this year’s campaign with a bang. Kohli had been out of the form since 2019, but finally since last year’s Asia Cup he has regained his form. Moreover, the best part is that he is continuing his form into the IPL. Kohli had a disastrous 2022 IPL, however thanks to his form and prayers of RCB fans, the King is back in form. Kohli struck an unbeaten 82 off just 49 balls and took his team across the finish line.
Winning start for the RCB Captain
RCB newly appointed skipper Faf Du Plessis has had a positive start, he was impressive in the field with bowlers rotation and field placements, much more than that he was also named Player of the Match for his brilliant 73 of 43 balls. He alongside Kohli laid the foundation of a comfortable win with 148 runs opening stand.
Royal Challengers Bangalore have gotten to a good start, and it would surely help them in their upcoming games as well. However, it would be interesting to see how they perform on the road.
