Rehan Ahmed, England Wrist Spinner, to Leave India for Personal Reasons

To attend to a family problem, England legspinner Rehan Ahmed has canceled his India tour. According to the ECB, Rehan will not return for the rest of the series, and England will not replace him.

Rehan’s Departure

England’s first three Tests against India featured 19-year-old Rehan. In Visakhapatnam, he took 11 wickets at 44, including 6 for 153. The England XI for the fourth Test in Ranchi did not include him.

Ben Stokes omitted Rehan after the selection was announced at 1 pm on Thursday, not because he had to go home. Rehan helped with drills at England’s final training session that afternoon. Friday, day one of the fourth Test, he will fly home.

England’s Spin Shuffle

Earlier this month, England faced delays in determining Rehan’s eligibility for the third Test due to “paperwork discrepancies” discovered upon his arrival from the UAE. However, the issues were eventually resolved, allowing Rehan to contribute with three wickets in England’s 434-run defeat in Rajkot.

In the upcoming fourth Test, England has opted to include off-spinner Shoaib Bashir instead of Rehan. Left-arm spinner Tom Hartley, who emerged as the highest wicket-taker for the team on the tour with 16 scalps, completes the spin bowling duo in the England XI.
