Sussex has confirmed the signing of Australia’s Steve Smith

Steve Smith on a short-term deal signs for three Championship games with Sussex that will be played in May.

“I’m amped up for joining Sussex for a couple of games in May and ideally making a commitment to a fruitful season,” Smith said.

“I’m especially anticipating working with the more youthful players in the crew and trusting I can give a direction to them.”

Sussex Cricket Chief, Ransack Andrew, said: “We are excited to have Steve Smith accessible for our Region Title matches in May. To have seemingly the world’s best hitter play for Sussex not long before an enthusiastically anticipated Remains Test series is perfect for ourselves and the District Title.

“Our Title structure has not been sufficient for various years, and under the new course of lead trainer Paul Farbrace, we are appearing to be positive and aggressive.

“Having the option to draw in a player of Steve Smith’s type is a huge assertion and will be of extraordinary advantage to our young local players, especially our yield of skilled youthful hitters.”
