Tryon Makes a Comeback for South Africa’s Australia Tour

Chloe Tryon has returned to South Africa’s white-ball teams for the women’s multi-format tour of Australia after recovering from a groyne injury. As a result of her great performance in her first T20I match against Bangladesh, Ayanda Hlubi was called up to the final ODI squad.

After the WBBL, Tryon hasn’t played since the home match against New Zealand in October. Nadine de Klerk, Ayabonga Khaka, Marizanne Kapp, and others who didn’t play in the T20Is but did play in the ODIs against Bangladesh were added to the 15-person group that will be led by Laura Wolvaardt.

From those that played South Africa’s last home series, Annerie Dercksen, Nondumiso Shangase, Tumi Sekhukhune and Lara Goodall missed out for the Australia tour, that starts on January 27 with three T20Is followed by three ODIs beginning February 3, before the one-off Test, the first between the two sides.

Head Coach Moreeng

“The team is very competitive.” “Everyone is excited about it, and there is a good mix of new players and experienced ones,” head coach Hilton Moreeng, whose contract was extended until the end of the season, said. “As a team, 2023 was a great year, and we’re excited to build on that.”

“We touched on our skills regarding the white ball, where we are going, and what is required, so the selected squad is very well-balanced and competitive, and we are very confident going into Australia.”

The first two T20Is will be played at the Manuka Oval in Canberra while the third will be at Bellerive Oval in Hobart. After the first ODI in Adelaide, the teams play the next two at the North Sydney Oval before travelling to Perth for the only Test match at the WACA.
