Uncertainty Looms: Possibility of Asia Cup 2023 Cancellation Rises Because of PCB vs BCCI

Hosts Pakistan may cancel the Asia Cup 2023 in September after Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and other participants dropped out of their intended “Hybrid Model.” The “Hybrid Model,” put out by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) president Najam Sethi, called for Pakistan to host 3 to 4 Asia Cup games while hosting the remaining contests involving India at a neutral site.
India Opt out to Visit Pakistan due to Security Reasons
The proposal was made after India decided against visiting Pakistan due to security reasons. It is now evident that Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan support the BCCI‘s efforts to have the event moved out of Pakistan. It is really a formality at this point whether the executive board members of the Asian Cricket Council meet electronically or in person later this month. However, the PCB is now aware that Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka do not support their hybrid model plan for the Asia Cup, according to a knowledgeable source with knowledge of the situation who spoke to the PTI news agency.
Broadcaster Won’t be Happy of No India vs Pakistan in Asia Cup
The source added that there is a chance the Asia Cup may not happen at all this year and that India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan may instead compete in a 50-over tournament with other teams before the World Cup. There is a strong probability that the Asia Cup won’t take place this year because the broadcasters are unlikely to provide the same amount they did to the ACC when Pakistan was involved, the source added.
Asia Cup is still on hold and if there will be no clash between IND and PAK on field broadcaster will not be happy with it and it might result in the postponed of the tournament.
Pakistan is not a safe country India should not engage in the competition
