On Friday night, seasoned West Indies spinner Sunil Narine had a terrible day at the office and recorded the poorest bowling statistics of his storied T20 career.
Somerset Was Given Target of 196
Somerset‘s attempt to reach the enormous total of 196 got off to a terrible start when Will Smeed and Tom Kohler-Cadmore were dismissed for single-digit scores. Tom Banton, a wicketkeeper, and Tom Abell, a batsman, startled Surrey with a brilliant counterattack that brought their team to 51 in six overs.
Sunil Narine Had a Nightmare Spell
Sam Curran, the captain of Surrey, sent in his trump card Sunil Narine to bowl the seventh over after seeing his seamers getting destroyed. The visitors’ strategy, however, backfired as Banton struck him for a six and a boundary, scoring twelve runs in that over. In Surrey’s eighth group-stage match against Somerset in the ongoing T20 Blast, Narine was pounded all over the pitch and gave up 55 runs without a wicket in his four-over span.

In his second over, Narine was even more expensive as Abell tore him to shreds, scoring 18 runs in the process. The KKR veteran was pummelling by Ben Green for two more sixes and a boundary after giving up 39 runs in his first three overs, and he ended his tenure with dismal stats of none for 55 in four overs.
But thanks to an outstanding team performance from the other bowlers, Surrey prevailed decisively by 28 runs and took the top spot in the South group points standings. They have their eleventh group-stage match at the Oval today against Hampshire.
