Virat Kohli: The King Of Bangalore

Virat Kohli made his IPL debut for RCB in the inaugural edition after being acquired for 12 lakhs INR in the auctions. Royal Challengers Bangalore retained former RCB and India captain Virat Kohli in this year’s IPL auctions, as expected. Kohli is, without a doubt, the most valuable player in the world, and RCB paid a whopping 15 crore INR to keep him. He took over as RCB captain in 2011 and remained in charge for ten years until 2021 when he decided to step down as captain. Virat Kohli is one of the best players in the history of IPL, and his record speaks for itself. Virat Kohli is yet to win an IPL trophy, but it’s never too late. With IPL-16 just around the corner, RCB and Virat Kohli will have another opportunity to grab their first IPL title.
Individual Records
Virat Kohli holds the record for most runs (6624) in the IPL. Kohli also has the second-most centuries (5), the record which he shares with Jos Butler, the second-most fours (578), the fourth-most catches (93), and the most runs (973) in a single IPL season.

Virat Kohli’s Record As Captain
Kohli is the third most successful captain in IPL history. Kohli captained RCB for ten seasons, from 2011 to 2021, totaling 140 matches, with RCB losing 69 games and winning 64. There were three ties and four no-results. Kohli led RCB to the Finals in 2016.
Virat Kohli’s Best IPL Season
Kohli’s best IPL performance came in 2016, considered his prime year. Kohli set a record that season by scoring 973 runs at an average of 81.08 and a strike rate of 152.03. That season, Kohli hit four 100s and seven 50s. RCB reached the finals but lost to SRH.
What To Expect From Kohli In The IPL 2023
Kohli is back in form, and RCB’s lineup appears to be more balanced this time. He didn’t had a good IPL season last year, scoring only 341 runs in 16 matches at an average of 22.73 and a strike rate of 115.98. Kohli not performing well is very rare, but he has regained his form, as he was India’s highest run-scorer in the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup last year. We can expect fireworks from Kohli’s bat this IPL because he is mentally strong and known for comebacks. Opponents should be scared because Kohli is back and hungry for runs.
