What does the future hold for Jasprit Bumrah?

Jasprit Bumrah was not selected for either India’s last two Test matches against Australia or the three-match ODI series in March, Indian fans will have to wait longer to see him play again. This increases the likelihood that he will return to action in the 2023 Indian Premier League season (IPL).

What lies next for  Bumrah?

The National Cricket Academy has not given Bumrah permission to participate despite being out of international competition for nearly five months (his last appearance for his country was in a T20I against Australia on September 25 of last year) (NCA). Bumrah is rumored to have participated in a few practice matches at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) facilities in Bengaluru during the past ten days. But, it is stated that the NCA managers have not granted their consent for him to be taken into consideration for the national call-up.

Nevertheless, the BCCI will also need to strike a balance between those interests and those of the five-time champion Mumbai Indians, who want their most potent bowler back in action. Mumbai Indians will be eager to have Bumrah back in their lineup after a difficult season last year.
