Mickey Arthur, a former coach for Pakistan, is most likely to take over as head coach of the Men in Green once more, but with a twist. Arthur will reportedly work with the team primarily online but will accompany the squad in person for the 2017 ODI World Cup in India, per the reports from Pakistani news sites.

He will continue serving as the full-time coach for Derbyshire County Cricket Club in the interim, according to the reports. In his absence, the Pakistan Cricket Board will assign Arthur’s assistant to lead the team on the field.

In addition to leading South Africa, Australia, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka on the global stage, Arthur is famous for being a successful coach.

Prior to the 2022 season, he moved to Derbyshire and helped them improve during his first season as manager.
He set a club record with nine victories during the Vitality Blast group phase of 2022.

In a media briefing a few days earlier, PCB president Najam Sethi stated that Arthur’s return to coaching Pakistan was quite likely.

Former Pakistani captain Shahid Afridi expressed his confusion in response to the news, and he questioned the PCB’s reasoning for hiring a foreign coach.

Hearing the stories confused Afridi, who had just finished serving as the interim chief selector of the Pakistani team. He stated that he is unsure of the style of coaching that will take place or the overall strategy. Unfathomable is the idea of a foreign coach for the national squad conducting online coaching.

The former all-rounder for Pakistan was also incensed by the PCB’s targeting of foreign coaches since he believed that Pakistan has a wealth of talented retired cricketers who can lead the national team.
